HUMMING AS PART OF THE TUNING PROCESS
HUMMING AS PART OF DEVELOPING TETRACHORD AWARENESS
GETTING FROM THE TUNING PITCH TO THE STARTING PITCH FOR THE CURRENT PATTERN
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO SIGHT READING
This process can be used for tuning a guitar class with somewhat experienced players.
When tuning any ensemble of wind players, the same process can be used effectively. It is helpful to have the players practice tuning to 5ths and adjust at least 2 octaves of the same note along the way.

With each of these steps, the end goal is to accurately 'hear' any of the patterns before playing them. Therefore, it is helpful to begin each group with humming then playing. Initially, play -> hum may be necessary. Move to hum -> play ASAP.
